Market Harborough Dad To Run London Marathon After Tragic Family Loss

Written by on 22nd January 2026

A Market Harborough Dad is raising awareness and funds for charity following the devastating loss of his wife and baby son within weeks of each other.

Charlotte Jelley died suddenly in August 2024, aged 32, from a pregnancy-related blood clot – just a day after the funeral of her son Arthur, who died during birth.

She is remembered as being “one of a kind” for her passion for life and her unwavering commitment to her family.

Charlotte’s husband, Ben Jelley, is running this year’s London Marathon in memory of her and baby Arthur to support Tommy’s, the charity which researches maternal and baby deaths and provides support to affected families.

Ben, a father to the couple’s three-year-old daughter Elsa Joy, will be joined in the challenge by Charlotte’s close friend, Emily Mayhew.

To boost fundraising efforts, Ben is holding a quiz night at the Red Lion in Great Bowden tomorrow and is also selling tickets for a large raffle.

Ben spoke to HFM’s Nick Shaw about the fundraiser and his motivation to honour his family:
