Arriva Bus Workers To Strike For 8 Days

Arriva bus services across Leicestershire are set to face major disruption later this week when staff begin eight days of strike action in a pay dispute.

Around 300 drivers, depot and office workers will walk out on Thursday, Friday and Saturday – with further strikes planned for December 15th, 20th and 21st, and January 5th and 6th.

The Unite union says members rejected Arriva’s latest pay offer, while the company says it remains committed to finding a resolution.

Arriva staff are to stage strike action

Unite regional officer Harj Mahi said: “Arriva is responsible for the disruption that will be caused to Christmas shoppers because it is refusing to put forward a reasonable offer out of greed.

“There is still time to resolve the dispute before strike action begins but that will require Arriva putting forward an acceptable offer.”

Arriva has not confirmed which services will be impacted by the action.

A spokesperson for Arriva Midlands said: “We’re aware that union members have voted to take industrial action.

“We remain committed to working closely with Unite to find a resolution and we remain positive that constructive discussions will lead to an outcome where neither our colleagues nor our customers are adversely affected.”
