Market Harborough’s Poundland Store To Close

Poundland is to close its store in Market Harborough.

The discount retailer is not renewing the lease on its premises in the Commons Car Park.

The store has been open for nearly four years and although a closing date has not been announced, it is understood to be sometime in October.

A number of Poundland stores are being shut nationwide as part of restructuring following the sale of the struggling chain earlier this year, although the company says the Market Harborough closure is separate and a consultation has been launched with staff at the store.

A Poundland spokesperson told HFM: “We’re obviously sorry we haven’t been able to agree lease terms that would allow us to keep trading.

“Whenever we have to close a store in these circumstances, we always consult with colleagues and look for alternatives.”

The premises is now being marketed for rent.
