Developer Appeals Planning Refusal

A property developer is appealing Harborough District Council’s refusal of planning permission on a large green field site to the north of our area.
In 2023, Parker Strategic Land submitted plans for a 70-bed residential care home alongside 230 new houses on land adjacent to Firs Road at Houghton On The Hill.
These also included a local store, another smaller retail unit and a GP surgery.
Straddling the A47, the proposal was highly controversial, with more than 100 local residents objecting to it on the grounds it would “irreversibly damage” the area.
HDC Councillors rejected the plans because “the adverse impact significantly and demonstrably outweighs the proposed benefits”.
Now, Parker Strategic Land has launched an appeal against that refusal and is taking its proposal to the Planning Inspectorate.
