School Closes For Final time

An independent school near Market Harborough has closed its doors for the final time due to financial challenges, including the introduction of VAT on fees.
Maidwell Hall boarding and day school in Maidwell, which catered for 160 pupils aged 4 to 13, had been operating for over 100 years.

Maidwell Hall School has closed
A parent-led bid to save the school was rejected earlier this year after Trustees said the plan was ‘not viable’.
Under the proposal, which had £2.7m in financial backing, Maidwell Hall would have broken free from Uppingham School – with which it merged two years ago after suffering financial problems – and become an independent charity again.
The group had also won the support of the state academy group the David Ross Education Trust (DRET) to provide operational support to the school.
Maidwell Hall School said the decision to close was taken with ‘profound regret.’
