Pumps Run Dry After Refinery Enters Administration

A petrol station in Market Harborough has been directly impacted after an oil refinery went into administration.

Pumps have run dry at the Co-Op filling station following the demise of the Lindsey Oil Refinery in Linconshire, operated by the Prax Group and a key supplier of the retailer’s fuel partner Harvest Fuels.

The forecourt at the site on Coventry Road is closed, although the shop remains open.

A spokesperson for Central Co-Op told HFM: “Central Co-op’s 18 petrol stations, including our forecourt at Market Harborough, are currently supplied by Harvest Fuels, and we are working closely with them to understand the full implications of this development.

“Our immediate priority is to maintain continuity of service and explore alternative fuel supply options to minimise disruption.

“We also recognise the concern this news will bring to those employed at the refinery and across the supply chain. We hope there is limited impact on local jobs and livelihoods, and our thoughts are with those affected at this uncertain time.

“We apologise to our Members and customers for any inconvenience this may cause and thank them for their patience and understanding while we work through this evolving situation.”

The Sainsbury’s petrol station in Market Harborough was closed yesterday afternoon, but re-opened this morning.

It is not known if that closure was related to the refinery administration.
