Mechanical Fault Stops Hourly Church Chimes

A familiar sound has been temporarily silenced in Market Harborough after the St Dionysius Church clock stopped chiming on the hour.

A mechanical fault has caused the problem and the church is organising for repairs to be made, but it may take a few weeks due to the specialist nature of the work.

A major repair project was carried out on the clock last year after a fault with the ancient mechanism caused it to completely stop working for over a year.

The church says it very much looks forward to the hourly chimes returning in the near future.
