Bumper Turnout at VE Day 80 Party In The Park

Events to mark the 80th anniversary of VE Day in Market Harborough concluded in style yesterday as thousands enjoyed a Party in the Park in Welland Park.

The HFM-hosted event saw a host of activities for the whole family, including live music and a Spitfire flypast, courtesy of the Battle of Britain Memorial Flights.

Guest of honour was 100-year-old D-Day veteran Robert Hardy who served in the Royal Navy, volunteering as a minesweeper during the war and a collection was taken during the day for the Armed Forces Charity SSAFA.
