Developer Seeks Assistance To Tackle Flytipping

A housing developer is calling for authorities to do more to help tackle illegal flytipping on an estate in Market Harborough.

Household and trade waste is constantly being dumped on land on the Wellington Place estate, forcing William Davis Homes to carry out regular clean-ups.

Burnt-out motorbikes have also been left among the mess strewn across land adjacent to new homes, owned by William Davis and its partner developer Taylor Wimpey.

CCTV has been installed in a bid to secure evidence of those responsible, but William Davis say they need further assistance to deal with the issue from councils, Police and the Environment Agency.

Officials from the developer are to meet Harborough District Council to discuss the on-going problem and urge residents to continue to report the flytipping.

David Dodge, operations director at William Davis, told HFM he believes unscrupulous tradespeople are responsible:

Cllr Darren Woodiwiss, Harborough District Council’s Cabinet lead for Environmental and Climate Change, said: “The council is aware of the issue raised and is meeting with the developer to see how best we can assist.”
