Tories Lose Control Of County Council

The Conservatives have lost control of Leicestershire County Council after 24 years.

The authority is now in no overall control, although Reform UK just fell short of securing the numbers needed to form a majority.

In the Harborough District, Reform UK won two seats, taking the Broughton Astley and Bruntingthorpe divisions off the Conservatives.

The Tories held their seats in Lutterworth, Market Harborough West and Foxton, and Gartee.

The Liberal Democrats gained the Market Harborough East division from the Conservatives and held Laude.

The overall results for the Leicestershire County Council election were:

Conservatives – 15 seats

Liberal Democrats – 11 seats

Labour – 2 seats

Green Party – 1 seat

Independent – 1 seat
