Lubenham Housing Refusal Reversed

The building of five new homes on a former airfield at the edge of Lubenham will now be going ahead – after a Government Planning Inspector stepped in to uphold an appeal by developers.
Last year Harborough District Council rejected a proposal for the new houses at Chapel Farm on Foxton Road in Lubenham, on land which used to form part of a World War Two RAF base.
Planning permission was refused after officials decided it was “unjustified development in the countryside which would detract from its rural character and be poorly related to existing settlements”.
However, the applicant appealed this decision and – after a Government Planning Inspector visited the site – the Inspectorate overruled the District Council’s refusal.
It means the construction of three, 3 bedroomed homes and two homes with 4 or more beds – plus a total of 10 dedicated parking spaces – can now go ahead.
