Traders Warned About Fake Cash

Leicestershire Police have issued a warning to Harborough shops over an increase in fake £20  notes being in circulation.

Incidents have been reported in the north west of the county, where such notes have been used as payment by young male customers at small businesses.

Officers fear other areas could be targeted and are urging staff to be vigilant and to carefully check notes being offered by customers.

A police spokesperson said: “If you are suspicious the cash you are offered is not genuine, do no accept it and report the matter to the police.”
