Owners of zombie-style knives and machetes are being urged to hand them in at Market Harborough Police Station before they become illegal.
Leicestershire Police is supporting a month-long national amnesty before the new law comes into force on September 24th , in a move which aims to reduce the accessibility of some of the deadliest types of knives.

People surrendering weapons may also be able to claim compensation from the government, if the value of the items exceeds £30.
The knives and machetes can be placed in the amnesty bin in the front office of Market Harborough Police Station, which is open between 10am and 4pm Monday – Friday.
