It’s Market Harborough Carnival Day
Written by HFM News on 22nd May 2024
It’s the Market Harborough Carnival today!
The big community event will begin with over 500 people taking part in a 10k Carnival Run round the town from 10am, ahead of a parade of around 20 floats and other vehicles from 11.30am.
Symington’s Recreation Ground will be the venue for a host of activities from 12noon, including live music and other entertainment, including on the HFM stage, stalls, food and drink and children’s entertainment.
The theme of this year’s carnival is ‘health and well-being’ and organisers hope to fund some new defibrillators for the town.
Harborough Big Green Week will also launch at the carnival and around 20 community groups and other organisations will have stalls in the ‘Green Street’ area.
Paul Milligan is the chairman of the organising committee and told HFM the parade will be particularly impressive this year:
The float parade will start on Burnmill Road, head West onto Bowden Lane, South onto B6047/High St, West onto Coventry Road, South onto Farndon Road, East onto Welland Park Road, North onto Northampton Road, East onto St Mary’s Road and finish before Andrew MacDonald Close.
Visit the Carnival website for more details on the event.
