Apology After Villagers Left Without Power For Over Six Hours

National Grid has apologised after some villagers in Kibworth were left without electricity for over six hours yesterday.
A fault at a substation in Hillcrest Avenue and with an underground cable on Leicester Road caused the outage just after 2.30pm, which initially affected over 1,400 properties and forced some businesses to close.
A generator had to be brought in to help restore supplies, with the final 140 properties not re-connected until just after 9pm.

National Grid has apologised for the outage
National Grid say engineers worked to resolve the issues as quickly as they could and a spokesperson added: “We apologise to everyone affected by these faults for the disruption they have caused.”
A separate incident caused a power cut in Market Harborough town centre at tea-time, with electricity restored by 8.30pm.
