The founder of a Market Harborough-based charity says she’s delighted to have been invited to the King’s Garden Party in London next month in recognition of her work.
Marie Connor set up ‘HAB Anti-bullying and Mental Health’ after her disabled son was attacked during the awareness week in 2011, following years of bullying.
Since then they’ve been running special events and providing free counselling services for those going through mental health, bullying, bereavement or domestic abuse issues.
The King uses a network of sponsors, including Lord Lieutenants, societies and associations, government departments, the armed services, the Church and other faiths – to nominate guests for an invitation, to allow for a cross-section of society to attend the parties each year.
Marie told HFM that her invitation to Buckingham Palace on the 21st of May 2024 came right out of the blue…
