Appeal After Sentimental Watch Stolen During Burglary

Written by on 2nd January 2024

An appeal has been launched after a sentimental watch was stolen during a burglary in Market Harborough over Christmas.

Bearing the rare brand ‘HEFIK’ it was taken from Andrew Moss’s house in The Crescent along with a number of other items between the 26th and 28th of December.

The gold watch belonged to Andrew’s father who passed away last year and is about 80 years old, having previously belonged to his father.

Andrew says it is not particularly valuable but has huge sentimental value and the brand is very unique (as shown in the first picture) but has the patina and look of the old Rolex (in the second picture) – in fact it’s the same all bar the name.

The leather strap is also broken.

Two mountain bikes, a telescope, other watches and jewellery and cash were also stolen during the burglary.

Leicestershire Police say enquiries into the incident are continuing and anyone with information about the whereabouts of the watch is urged to call 101, quoting crime reference number 23000796303.

Burglars also struck at other houses in near-by on Hammond Way during the Christmas period.

One was broken into between Saturday 23 December and Christmas Day (Monday 25 December) with items including earrings, bangles, bracelets, necklaces and watches were taken.

Another property – also in Hammond Way – was broken into between 22 and 27 December. However, nothing was taken.

Sergeant Pete Jelbert said: “Please cast your mind back – did you see anyone in either street acting in a manner that caught your attention? Was there anything unusual or suspicious?

“I’m keen to speak to any residents with doorbell or CCTV cameras or anyone who might be able to help.”
