‘Super Prison’ Decision Delayed For Fourth Time

A decision on whether a massive new prison will be built near Market Harborough has been delayed for a fourth time.
It was due to be announced a week on Monday but has been put back again, this time until the start of November.
Government Minister Michael Gove, who will decide if the £300m 1700-inmate so called ‘super prison’ will go up on land near HMP Gartree, says he needs more time to consider the case.
The prison would create over 800 jobs.
There is mass opposition to the plan from residents of villages near the proposed site and although Harborough District Council refused planning permission, the Ministry of Justice appealed the decision, prompting a Public Inquiry last October.
