Suspended Sentence For Driver Who Fled Crash In Desborough

A man has been handed a suspended prison sentence for failing to stop for Police in Desborough before crashing a pick-up truck leaving a woman trapped inside.
Lee Hopkins was also banned from driving for 30 months, after he fled the scene of the collision on foot before being found by police Olly, who tracked him through fields.
The Mitsubishi collided with a tree on Stoke Albany Road late on April 10th and firefighters were called to release the passenger from the wreckage, who was taken to hospital with minor injuries.
Hopkins, 20, of Battersbee Road, Leicester, pleaded guilty to failing to stop for Police and failing to provide a specimen of urine for analysis when he appeared at Northampton Magistrates’ Court.
He was sentenced to 8 weeks in prison, suspended for 24 months.
