Police To Clampdown On Illegal E-Bikes In Market Harborough

Police are target people riding electric bikes dangerously in Market Harborough.
There has been a rise in the use of e-bikes in the town, particularly to deliver items, but at the same time an increasing number of complaints about the speed and manner of which they are being used, particularly on pavements.
Although legal if under a certain power, bikes that go faster are classed as motor vehicles, so owners must have a licence and insurance.
Harborough Police are now planning enforcement days, where officers will stop riders to check bikes, with the warning any found to be illegal will be seized.
