Extension To Market Harborough Cemetery Completed

An extension of Market Harborough cemetery into the grounds of the town’s Leisure Centre has been completed.
It has created an additional 76 burial plots at the Northampton Road site, which was approaching capacity, while a search continues for a suitable site for a new cemetery in the town.

The work by the District Council has also has also seen improved landscaping, so the site is better enclosed and more tranquil for families and friends to remember loved ones.
Caroline Averill, Head of Property Services at Harborough District Council, said: “I am pleased that these upgrades, which have cost £50,000, have been completed.
“Most importantly, the extension will provide more burial spaces for future years.”
