Inspector Rejects Appeal Over ‘Sustainable Homes’ Plan

A planning inspector has rejected an appeal to build ‘sustainable homes’ between Market Harborough and Lubenham.

Owners of Archway Health and Well-Being Centre had challenged Harborough District Council’s decision to refuse permission for the seven ‘self-build’ homes in the grounds of the site.

The inspector agreed with the council that the development would cause harm to the character and appearance of the area and dismissed the appeal.

The homes would have been made from sustainable materials and have generated all their own power and heating needs.

Alec Welton, joint-owner of the centre, told HFM he was ‘very disappointed’ with the decision and that the need for green buildings and self-builds continues to go unmet.
