Three complete sets of Beatles autographs have sold at auction in Market Harborough for £6,400.

One set, written on the back of a Police charge sheet fetched £3,400 – nearly four times the estimate.

The signatures were collected by the Market Harborough-based seller’s father, who was a police chief constable’s driver and took the band back to their hotel, after a concert at Newcastle City Hall in November 1963.

The others, penned on a publicity photo from the fab four’s first performances at Leicester’s De Montfort Hall sixty years ago and collected by someone who went to the same school as some of the band members, sold for £1,400 and £1,600 respectively.

The sale today at Gildings Auctioneers coincided with the 60th anniversary of the band’s first performance in Leicester on March 31st 1963.
