Planned Parliamentary Boundary Changes To Affect Some Harborough Villages

Some people in the Harborough District will be represented by a different Member of Parliament if planned changes to boundaries go-ahead.
Fleckney, Saddington, Husbands Bosworth and the Kilworths would move from the Harborough to South Leicestershire parliamentary constituency under the proposal.
Villages in the north of the District, along with places including Hallaton and Melbourne, would become part of a new Rutland and Stamford constituency.
The Boundary Commission has launched a consultation on the proposals before making a final decision on the changes which will take effect in 2023, ahead of the next scheduled general election.
The latest plan replaces the first draft published last year, which proposed one parliamentary constituency covering the whole of the Harborough District, instead of the different parts of the area being represented by three different MP’s.
Cllr Phil King, Leader of Harborough District Council, told HFM he is disappointed that plan appears to have been shelved and is encouraging people to take part in the consultation:
