Man Charged With Illegal Butchery Of Pigs At Harborough District Farm

A man has been charged with the illegal butchery of pigs at a farm in the Harborough District.
Robert Emerson, 73, of Orchard Road in Broughton Astley, is accused of animal welfare offences and will appear at Leicester Magistrates’ Court next month.
The prosecution is being brought by Leicestershire Trading Standards after Police discovered a number of pigs, believed to have been slaughtered illegally, at a farm in Leire near Lutterworth in December last year.
A number of other pigs had to be euthanised by a vet and others were taken into possession of Leicestershire County Council.
