The Ministry of Justice is still considering whether to challenge the
decision to refuse permission for a massive new prison near Market
Harborough.
District Councillors unanimously rejected the plan for land near Gartree
Prison earlier this month, because of the effect the 17-hundred inmate
jail would have had on the countryside.
Now Councillor Phil Knowles has emailed Secretary of State for Justice,
Dominic Raab MP, and the Deputy Director of SRO New Prisons, Robin
Seaton, asking them to completely abandon the idea… and not to launch a
planning appeal.
Cllr Knowles is urging others also against the new prison plan to use
his email as a template, and do the same.
