Lorry Driver Escapes Serious Injury After A14 Crash

A lorry driver escaped without serious injury after their vehicle crashed through the central reservation and overturned on the A14.

Miraculously the HGV did not collide with any other vehicles when it crossed from the eastbound to the westbound carriageway and came to rest on its side.

It happened between junction 2, the Kelmarsh turn, and junction 3, the A6 turn near Rothwell, just after 4pm yesterday,

Police say the driver, a man, was taken to hospital as a precautionary measure, to be treated for minor injuries.

The road was closed for several hours, with drivers immediately behind the incident stuck for over three hours, before arrangements were put in place to allow them to leave the carriageways.

Specialist recovery teams were called to remove the lorry and emergency barrier repairs were carried out during the night.
