Three out of four homes secured in the Harborough District for families who fled Afghanistan remain empty.
The District Council agreed to provide the properties for the government’s re-settlement scheme last year, when thousands of people fled the country following the Taliban taking control.
But so far, just one refugee family have be re-housed here.
Councillor Phil Knowles is leader of the opposition:

A Home Office spokesperson told Hfm: “The UK has made one of the largest commitments to resettlement of any country.
“Our scheme will provide up to 20,000 Afghan women, children and other at-risk groups with a safe and legal route to resettle in the UK.
“We are working as fast as possible to house everyone and are proud this country has provided homes for more than 4,000 Afghans evacuees in such a short space of time.
“We are thankful to Harborough District Council and all those who have stepped forward to offer support and homes to resettle Afghan evacuees, and we continue to urge others to pledge their support.”
