Firefighters Issue Warning To People Stockpiling Fuel
Written by HFM News on 29th September 2021
Firefighters are warning people not to store large quantities of petrol or diesel in their vehicles or at home, as filling stations across Harborough continue to experience supply problems.
Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service has issued advice after pictures appeared on social media of people filling large numbers of jerry cans, milk bottles and even drink cartons with fuel.
The service is reminding residents only small quantities of flammable material should be stored in proper petrol cans and they should be kept away from any heat sources to prevent the risk of fire.
Matthew Cane, Head of Operational Response at Leicestershire Fire and Rescue, spoke to Hfm:
The fire service says it has plenty of supplies of fuel for its appliances based in Market Harborough, Kibworth, Lutterworth, Billesdon and across the county.
