A man has been handed a suspended jail term after stealing a lorry trailer containing cosmetics worth £86,000 from a business park in Lutterworth.
Police arrested Stephen Richards within 30 minutes of the theft from the compound of Trout Transport in Bilton Way in the early hours of May 24th, after an eye-witness saw him break in and attach the trailer to a lorry cab, before driving off.
The vehicle, which had children’s make-up products on board, was stopped on the A5 near the Warwickshire border.
Richards, 35, of Britannia Road, Wolverhampton was given given a 20-month jail term, suspended for two years by a judge at Leicester Crown Court, after pleading guilty to theft, driving otherwise in accordance with a driving licence and driving without insurance.
He has also been ordered to carry out 126 hours unpaid work, given a two-month curfew order and ordered to pay £340 costs and a victim surcharge of £156.
