The popular manager of Harborough Market has been thanked for her hard work and dedication after waving goodbye to the venue after seven years.

Sairah Butt has left her position as Market and Events Manager at Harborough District Council, after playing an integral role in the running the market and organising events such as the award-winning Market Harborough Food and Drink Festival, the Comedy Festival BIG Weekend, Arts and Craft Fairs.

She also helped organise the recent Royal Visit to the town.

Harborough Council Leader Phil King paid tribute to Sairah’s work at a meeting this week, saying: “I’d like to take this opportunity to pay sincere thanks to our Market and Events Manager Sairah Butt who is leaving the council after seven years to pursue other opportunities.”

“I wish her every success.”

Sairah has left her role to become commercial manager at Market Harborough-based Brookside Carpets and said “I am very excited to be taking up my new post with Brookside Carpets and am looking forward to driving the business forward.

“It goes without saying that I am sad to have left Harborough Market, but to be offered the chance to work at such a well-established and much-loved local business is a fantastic opportunity and a challenge I am looking forward to immensely.”
