Fundraising epic motorbike ride
Written by HFM on 23rd July 2021
A brave Market Harborough man is beginning an epic journey on B-roads by motorbike today – to raise money for charities which have helped him.
34-year-old Ben Johnson, who’s battling cancer, is taking the scenic route from John O’Groats to Lands End with fellow biker Wesley Butler –
a distance of around 1,300 miles.
He’s aiming to raise £3,000 for Leicestershire MS Therapy Centre and Together Against Cancer.
Ben suffered nerve damage, then two years of agonising pain, following extensive surgery to remove a tumour from around his heart in 2017.
After another operation funded using some of the £10,000 raised for him last year, he can now move more freely, with less pain,
and begin to enjoy life again – although he’s been told the cancer has returned.
Ben says he wants to make the most of being well enough to get active and have fun – hence undertaking this challenge with Wesley to fundraise
at the same time.
