Planners Rule Advertising Display Would Be Eye-Sore

Written by on 22nd June 2021

A company has been refused permission to put up a digital advertising display outside the entrance to Sainsbury’s in Market Harborough.

Planning officers at the District Council say it would create an eyesore and impact negatively on the character of the area, including the near-by Settling Rooms – a listed building.

A statement on the refusal reads: “The advertisement sign due to its size, design, siting and internal illumination does not enhance or preserve the character of the area, does not improve the appearance of the public realm, results in visual clutter and does not enhance the townscape.”
