A driver who led Police on a chase at speeds up to 165mph – before crashing in Theddingworth – has been jailed for a year.
Officers pursued the Audi A3, being driven by Usman Kiani, for 60 miles down the M1 from Bradford, before he turned off at Lutterworth and headed along the A4304 towards Market Harborough.
The chase continued through villages at speeds of over 100mph, before he lost control on Main Street and the car collided with a wall outside a house.
Derbyshire Constabulary have released this footage of the pursuit
The 19-year-old and four passengers ran off, but were quickly found and arrested with the help of a Police dog and helicopter crew.
Kiani of Cobden Street, Luton pleaded guilty to dangerous driving and driving without insurance at Derby Crown Court, following the incident on April 25th/26th.
He was also banned from driving for five-and-a-half-years.
In sentencing, Judge Shaun Smith QC said: “I’ve been doing this job a long time, but I think it’s the most appalling piece of driving I’ve ever seen without significant consequences.
“How nobody got injured in this 60-mile chase I don’t know. Thank goodness they didn’t.
“You had four other men in that car with you, and I know what you think now.”
