Go-Ahead Set For Former Hotel To Become New Base For College
Written by HFM News on 4th May 2021
The plan to make Market Harborough’s former Angel Hotel a permanent base for Brooke House College is set for the go-ahead.
Council planning officers are recommending approval for the change of use of the historic High Street building, which shut as a hotel last year, so it can provide all the college’s catering facilities and accommodation for 42 students.
Harborough District Council’s Planning Committee will consider the application at a meeting next week.
Although there have been no formal objections to the plan, it will be brought before the councillors following concerns expressed by Cllr Barry Frenchman, in relation to the loss of commercial premises and hotel rooms in the town centre and the potential impact on tourism and vitality of the town centre.
