Missing Cat Rescued From Down 20ft Well
Written by HFM News on 5th May 2021
A pet cat that got stuck down a 20ft well for ten days is back home safe and well.
Flea, who will soon be a year old, was rescued by firefighters after meowing was heard coming from the well in a neighbour’s garden.
Crews were called to Main Street, near Loddington, near Rothwell, yesterday afternoon, and spent an hour bringing the cat to safety.
Despite being under about 1ft of water, Flea had managed to climb onto a small ledge for safety.
Firefighters used cutting equipment to remove the grating at the top of the well and lowered a ladder to reach the cat.
With the help of cat food they were able to safely bring Flea to the surface, before reuniting her with happy owners, sisters Freya and Keira Hill, who had been searching for Flea since she disappeared.
Freya spoke to Hfm:
Freya is home safe & well
