Police Find Hounds Stolen From South Kilworth In Greater Manchester

Four dogs stolen from South Kilworth in February have been found by Police in the Greater Manchester area.

It follows a major search for the Basset Hounds, which were taken from the Westerby Basset Hounds kennels.

The dogs were recovered at two separate addresses over the weekend.

Two women and a man, arrested on suspicion of handling stolen goods, have been questioned and released under investigation while enquiries continue.

The search is continuing for the fifth dog stolen – named Bashful – which is still missing.

Owners of the hounds worked with animal welfare group, Beauty’s Legacy, to track down the dogs, with Greater Manchester Police acting over the weekend, after being passed information via Leicestershire Police.

The dogs are part of the only pack of working English basset hounds in the county and are regularly seen exercising and following trails around Leicestershire.

Sergeant Paul Archer, from the Harborough and Wigston Neighbourhood Policing Area (NPA), said: “I am pleased that four of the dogs have been found.

“I would like to thank both the public for their assistance in locating the dogs and colleagues from Greater Manchester Police for recovering them.

“However, I would still ask anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of the outstanding dog to come forward. Any information you have could help us.”
