Car Thief Who Rammed Police Dog Vehicle Jailed For Three Years

A car thief who left a woman injured and rammed a Police patrol car has been jailed for three years.

Alex Lundy, 45, ran over her foot when she disturbed him stealing her Audi in Cold Ashby on February the 26th, and forced a Police officer to jump out of the way when he accelerated towards him.

He was spotted later in the day in Rothwell driving another car linked to the theft by a Police dog handler.

Northampton Crown Court heard the female officer blocked him in Squires Hill with her patrol vehicle, before getting out with one of her dogs.

Lundy then rammed the Police vehicle three times, leaving it badly damaged, and drove off a high speed.

Another police dog was in the vehicle at the time and was left shaken by the incident, the court heard. The incident caused damage costing about £3,700 to the car and left it in such a state it couldn’t be driven.

A high-speed pursuit then took place around Rothwell, before the BMW he was driving crashed into a tree in Moorfield Road and officers arrested him a short time later in a garden.

Lundy, formally of Corby, admitted a series of charges including dangerous driving.

He was also banned from driving for five years.
