Go-Ahead Given For New ‘Affordable Homes’ In Market Harborough

The go-ahead has been given for 27 new ‘affordable’ homes in Market Harborough.

Harborough District Council’s Planning Committee approved the plan, for land at the back of Tymecrosse Gardens, off Alvington Way, at a meeting last night.

The green light was given despite concerns from near-by residents, who are worried about the impact of the development, which will go up on three acres of fields.

They fear it will create flooding and drainage problems, loss of privacy and be over-bearing on their properties.

The new one to four bedroom houses and bungalows will be available for rent and shared ownership.

Developers Venture Properties Group are working with housing association EMH on the development, which will provide a series of section 106 contributions, totalling approximately £170,000, to cater for the needs of residents with regards to nearby schools, children and young people facilities and infrastructure provision.

There will also be open spaces and managed landscaping as part of it.

A previous scheme for 16 homes on the site was approved by a government planning inspector three years ago, but never progressed, after the plan was originally turned down by the Council, amid concerns about flooding and landscaping.
