Firefighters Free Van Driver After Crash On A14

Firefighters freed a driver from the wreckage of a van after a crash on the A14 near Welford this morning.

It happened on the eastbound carriageway, close to junction 1, at around 7.30am.

The van was involved in collision with a box van, and although the driver was trapped, he was not seriously injured.

There were long queues as the carriageway had to be completed closed for a time while emergency services worked at the scene.

Fire crews from Kettering and Rugby were sent to the scene, along with Police and East Midlands Ambulance Serivce.
