More Praise For Wildflower Planting In & Around Harborough

Severn Trent Water is to be publically praised for planting wildflowers in areas of Market Harborough and Little Bowden, following the major water pipe renewal work.

A motion to be heard at a meeting next week also urges Harborough Distinct Council to identify other sites where such planting could take place, saying the displays are bringing in pleasure to residents and visitors alike.

The motion from Councillor Peter James reads:  “I would move that Harborough District Council publicly thanks Severn Trent Water Ltd for their very high standard of reinstatements following the extensive water supply upgrades undertaken in and around Market Harborough earlier this year.

“As part of this reinstatement programme along Rockingham Road, opposite railway station car park on the verges in Little Bowden Ward, wild flowers were planted, HDC supports this initiative and notes that the floral display has enhanced the area and still presents a wonderful sight, even at this late stage in the season, bringing pleasure to residents and visitors alike.

“In addition I also move that for 2021/22 the Council looks to follow the lead given to us by Severn Trent and actively seeks to identity other suitable sites for similar wild flower planting.”
