Government Could Review Plan For Thousands Of New Homes

The plan for nearly three thousand new homes near Lutterworth could be reviewed by the government.

South Leicestershire MP Alberto Costa is considering asking for it to be ‘called-in’ amid concerns over parts of the massive development, set for land off the M1, which was given the go-ahead by Harborough District Council in July.

He is sending a survey to 5,500 residents in the town and surrounding villages, asking for their views, before making a final decision on whether to ask the Secretary of State for Housing, Communities and Local Government to step in.

Mr Costa spoke in favour of the development’s approval when the plan was considered, however, reiterated his long standing concerns over some elements of it.

Mr Costa has sent surveys to all 5,415 households registered on the electoral roll in Lutterworth and the nearby villages of Bitteswell, Cotesbach, Gilmorton, Kimcote, Walton, Shawell, Walcote and Misterton.
