Tributes Paid To Kibworth’s ‘Fred’

Tributes are being paid to a homeless man who was found dead at a park in Kibworth yesterday.

Known as ‘Fred,’ but whose real name is believed to have been Stephen Winter, he has been described as a ‘fantastic local character’.

James Bambury from Kibworth told Hfm he got to know Fred well during his time running The Swan pub in the village, and has launched an on-line fundraiser towards the cost of his funeral and to pay for a memorial bench:

Police are treating the death at the Smeeton Road Recreation ground as unexplained, but not suspicious.
