Drivers are being warned on-street parking restrictions in Market Harborough remain in force.

Enforcement teams were scaled back when the lock-down came into force, although patrols have been upped this week to reflect the increase in traffic levels.

A number of people were caught out yesterday, with parking tickets placed on numerous cars in the town centre.

Parking restrictions in Harborough Council’s car parks remain suspended though.

A Leicestershire County Council spokesman told Hfm: “During the period of the Covid 19 pandemic the level of on street parking enforcement has been scaled down to protect our workforce and also reflect the reduction in traffic levels.

“During this time we have continued to respond to traffic safety concerns. In line with the latest Government guidance, this week our parking enforcement team have increased patrolling to reflect the increase in traffic volume and ensure the flow of traffic and the safety of all highway users.”
