Bottled Water Delivered As Villages Still Have No Water

There continues to be problems with water supplies in several Harborough villages.
Taps ran dry for a second day in the Langtons, Glooston and parts of Kibworth Harcourt last night and people still have no water this morning, or extremely low pressure.
Kate Hampson from Tur Langton has a four-week old baby daughter and another daughter aged 15 months.
She told Hfm she’s been forced to break lock-down rules and visit her parents house to use their water:

Severn Trent has delivered bottled water to Glooston this afternoon & a farmer has provided a bowser for residents
Severn Trent Water is blaming the issue on unprecedented demand on its water network across the region, although there is also a burst water main in Tur Langtons which is thought to be compounding the issue.
A spokesman for the firm said: “We’d like to say a huge sorry to any customers in and around Market Harborough who’ve been seeing some low pressure or even no supply at certain times of the day.
“The problems are being caused by the incredibly high levels of demand for water we’re seeing at the moment – with customers across the Midlands using hundreds of millions of litres more than they usually do.
“All supplies should now be back on in the area, but we have seen some airlocks, caused by the low pressure in the system which will have stopped water getting through to a few people. Our teams are aware and are working hard to get this sorted as quickly as possible.
“We’ve ramped up production of treated water to record levels in response to the demand issues but we’d love it if everyone could ditch the sprinklers and the pressure washers to make sure there’s enough water for the great hygiene we all need at the moment, and for drinking and flushing toilets.”
