A man is in a serious condition in hospital after falling from a roof of a stand at Desborough Town Football Club.
Emergency services, including the Air Ambulance, were called to the ground on Braybrooke Road just after 11.30am on Saturday.
Police say the man, aged in his 40s, was taken to the University Hospital Coventry and Warwickshire after sustaining a serious head injury.
Chairman of Desborough Town FC, Ernie Parsons, told Hfm the man involved is someone who helps out at the club from time to time and it’s thought he had gone onto the roof to retrieve footballs.
Mr Parsons said: “This was a very unfortunate incident and everyone at the club wishes him a full and speedy recovery.
“While it may have been with good intent, no-one is authorised to go onto roofs without the necessary safety equipment and the Club did not instruct anyone to do so.”
A spokesperson for Northamptonshire Police told Hfm the incident has been recorded as an accident and there were no suspicious circumstances.
