Search For New On-Call Firefighters Across Harborough

A campaign has been launched to recruit more on-call firefighters across the Harborough District.

There are vacancies in Market Harborough, Kibworth, Billesdon and Lutterworth.

On-call crews respond to 999 calls from their homes or workplaces, so need to live or work fairly close to their nearest fire station.

Leicestershire Fire & Rescue would normally hold taster sessions for people interested, but because of the current lock-down is instead holding question and answer sessions on-line via Zoom.

Rick Taylor, Chief Fire and Rescue Officer, said: “On-call firefighters play a vital role at Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service and they help us provide the very best service to the local communities we serve.

“We hope to encourage members of our local communities to come forward, find out more about being an on-call firefighter and ultimately apply for a role.”

The deadline for submitting an application is Wednesday May 13th.
