Clean Up Underway
Written by HFM on 27th February 2020
A complex clean up operation is underway at a one hundred acre property
near Husbands Bosworth after investigations revealed it had become a
massive dumping ground.
Environment Agency officials are on the scene at Firs Farm – on the
western side of Welford Road – following the discovery of a large
quantity of piled up rubbish and other illegal waste.
Locals reported a stench of “death and decay” drifting across the
village from the tenanted County Council farm hundreds of yards away.
It’s said the tenant – who used to keep around 80 dairy cattle there –
can’t now be found.
The site has now been secured by the Council – and a cross-agency
investigation into what’s suspected to be a major environmental incident
has been launched.
