Pledge To Deal With Pavement Flooding

Highway bosses have pledged to deal with constant flooding on a pavement in Market Harborough town centre, caused by blocked drains.

Water has been gathering during rainfall in a large area outside the British Heart Foundation shop for the past few weeks.

Leicestershire County Council say it’s aware of the problem and will be dealing with it next month.

There’s a delay because of a backlog of work connected with the recent large-scale flooding across the County.

A Leicestershire County Council spokesperson said: “We are aware of concerns regarding a blocked drain outside businesses in The Square Market Harborough.

“Our flooding gangs have been working round-the-clock to distribute sandbags, clear gullies and close flooded roads following last week’s storms. We are now working through the backlog of reported drainage works as quickly as possible.

“We appreciate that this issue is causing inconvenience to pedestrians in the area and will be carrying out this work the week commencing 16 March.”
