Villages Offered Cash For VE Day Anniversary Events
Written by HFM News on 25th February 2020
Over £20,000 is being made available for celebrations across the Harborough District to mark the 75th anniversary of VE Day.
Each Parish and Town Council is being offered £500 by Harborough Council, to help fund events in their villages.
There will also be a main celebration in Market Harborough on Friday May 8th – the day in 1945 when Nazi Germany surrendered following almost six years of brutal warfare during the Second World War.
The national celebration for Victory in Europe Day (VE Day) 75, will cover the weekend of 8th to 10th May, with the early May Bank Holiday in 2020 moving from Monday 4 May to Friday 8th, to enable an international celebration of peace, remembrance and reflection.
